Eotech 557 - Holographic Weapon Sight |
| The new 557.AR223 has been developed to optimize the functionality of the HWS. The buttons have been moved from the back to the left side for instant access, allowing a magnifier, night vision, or a back up iron sight to fit closely to the HWS body. This new button position allows the user to operate the HWS function switches easier than ever before. Additionally, a portion of the front base has been raised to allow the sight to fit over standard hand guards found on many M-4 or M-16 style weapons. The 557.AR223 is configured with a new ballistic matching reticle image for the M4 carbine. The battle tested circle/dot reticle will be offered along with a series of 1 MOA aiming dots that are vertically aligned and calibrated specifically for the ballistic drop of .223 caliber ammunition. The reticle provides 4 aiming dots for target distances of 0-300m, 400m, 500m, and 600m. |

Eotech Holosights |
(HDS) are fully compatible with Generation 1-3 Night Vision devices. A special night vision setting on the M550 series models allows the operative to adjust the intensity of the holographic reticle to eliminate any bloom or saturation effect produced by a too bright reticle and reduces the potential for damaging the image tube of your night vision device. The M550 models mount in front of the night vision system enabling the operative to combine a superior Fast Acquisition Close Quarters Combat (CQC) sight by day with a battle proven night vision system to achieve remarkable night time targeting. Each model comes with a unique NV switch that allows the operator to instantly drop the reticle's brightness to the NV setting, eliminating any halo effect or blooming of the NVD. The night vision contrast ratio is 10,000,000:1 with the NV switch engaged. The operator can then instantly toggle back and forth from the NV to the normal (daylight) mode. The unlimited eye relief and off-axis capabilities of the HWS allow it to be employed with head or helmet mounted NVDs. This cannot be done with any other optical sights. Prior to the advent of the HWS, the only way to aim shoulder weapons when head or helmet mounted night vision was used was with an infrared (IR) laser aimer, which can give away the operator's position if the enemy is employing night vision surveillance. The HWS is a passive weapon optic. The HWS doesn't emit any light signature to give away the operator's position. No muzzle side signature is detectable, even when the NVDs are employed, including the latest, most sophisticated Gen III devices. The reticle pattern can only be viewed by the operator. |
