PP-3 – 9-Volt Battery Box offers an alternative for many missions. Use readily available, low cost, commercial batteries and avoid the environmental issues of more expensive batteries, such as the BA-5598/U. The 9V PP3 box was designed for use with the CIRLS/SOLS lights; including ACR radio remote switch unit.

IN COMBAT OPERATIONS it is sometimes necessary that weight and size be reduced to meet operational constraints. On other occasions, it may be necessary to fly on commercial aircraft, where lithium batteries are prohibited. In these circumstances the PP-3 Battery Box is the most logical choice. Fitted with six 9-Volt batteries, the CIRLS light will operate for 90-hours. In some cases, the SOLS light may be needed for short-term missions. The PP-3 will power the SOLS for more that one-hour. Long enough to light a DZ for scores of airdrop aircraft.
